Remote Support
Screen-sharing help for software, email, account, and setup problems — by scheduled appointment.
Sessions are scheduled in advance
Remote support starts with a scheduled session.
Call or text Tyler, or send a service request. Once we have talked through the issue and confirmed a time, you will use the connect button further down this page.
What remote support is
Instead of dropping off your computer or waiting for a visit, you and I look at the same screen at the same time while we are on the phone together.
You See Everything I Do
Your screen stays in front of you the whole time. Nothing happens out of sight, and I explain what I am doing as I go.
You Approve the Connection
A session only starts when you allow it from your own computer, and you can end it at any time.
Often Faster for Software Issues
For the right kind of problem, remote help avoids packing up a computer, driving over, or waiting for an appointment window.
Best for One Clear Issue
Remote sessions work best when there is a specific problem to solve or a specific thing to set up, rather than a full system overhaul.
When remote works — and when it does not
Remote support is genuinely useful for some problems and completely wrong for others. Here is the honest split.
Good fit for remote
The computer turns on and can get online.
- Windows or program errors and settings
- Email and Microsoft 365 setup
- Account, login, and password help
- The software side of a printer problem
- Reviewing a suspicious popup or message
- Installing and configuring software
- Walking through a “how do I…” question
- Follow-up questions after a repair
Better as drop-off or on-site
The device needs hands on it, or it cannot stay online.
- The computer will not turn on or will not start Windows
- No internet, or Wi-Fi is down
- Screens, keyboards, batteries, charging ports, and fans
- Virus cleanup that needs offline scans or startup repair
- Data recovery or a drive that is failing
- New computer setup with data transfer
- Router replacement and reconnecting devices
- Printers that need physical setup or repair
Not sure which one you need? Call and describe it. I will tell you honestly whether remote is the faster option or whether a drop-off will save you money.
Remote support is by appointment and billed like other labor — see pricing
How a remote session works
Four steps, and you stay in control through all of them.
Schedule First
Call, text, or send a service request and tell me what is happening. Remote support is not an on-demand service — we agree on a time first.
Tyler Confirms
I will confirm the appointment and let you know what to have ready. Only start a remote session after Tyler has confirmed the appointment.
Connect Together
When it is time, click Start Remote Support below. A short guide walks you through the download step by step while we are on the phone.
Work and Finish
You watch the whole time and can end the session at any point. Before we finish, I will explain what was done and anything worth following up on.
Remote or in person, you are working with the same local person either way.
Ready to connect?
Only use this after Tyler has confirmed your appointment and is on the phone with you.
Opens a guided connect window with the download button and simple steps.
Tyler will never call you out of the blue
Scammers pretend to be computer technicians and ask people to let them connect. A few simple rules keep you safe.
- I only start a session you scheduled with me.
- If someone calls claiming to be “tech support” or from Microsoft, hang up and call me at 254-613-1445.
- Never give a session code to anyone but Tyler.
- I will never ask for gift cards, wire transfers, or your banking login.
- Close private files and windows before the session starts.
- You can end the session at any time.
If you are not sure whether a call is really from me, hang up and call 254-613-1445 directly.
Remote support questions
Do I need to install anything?
Possibly. Depending on the session, Tyler may give you a session code or ask you to download and run a small support tool. I will walk you through it on the phone, and you do not need to do anything before we talk.
Is remote support safe?
A session only starts when you allow it from your own computer. You can see your screen the whole time, and you can end the session at any point. Please close private files and windows before we begin.
Can you fix a computer that will not turn on?
No. Remote support needs a computer that starts up and can get online. If your computer will not turn on or will not reach the internet, a scheduled drop-off is the right next step.
Do I need to sit at the computer during the session?
Yes, please. You will need to allow the connection at the start, and it helps to have you there to show me the problem and answer questions as we go.
Can I just click the portal link whenever I need help?
Please schedule first. Remote support is not an on-demand service — the connect button is for sessions we have already agreed on, so start with a call, text, or service request.
What if remote support does not solve it?
Sometimes a problem turns out to need hands on the device. If that happens, I will tell you during the session and we will schedule a drop-off or an on-site visit instead.
What does remote support cost?
Remote support is by appointment and billed like other labor. I will confirm what to expect before we start, and the Pricing page lists starting points for every type of service.
Not sure if remote is right for your problem?
Describe what is happening and I will point you to the fastest option, whether that is a remote session, a drop-off, or an on-site visit.
Available 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM by appointment.
